Free Cover Letter Checker
Paste your cover letter, or its weakest paragraph, and get a quick review: the 3 places a hiring manager is most likely to skim past, each quoted from your letter, with the reason and a task to fix it. WriteFit does not write the letter for you — so it still sounds like you, not like the other hundred applicants who used a generator.

Pasted text
I am writing to express my strong interest in the Marketing Coordinator position at your company. I am a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player with excellent communication skills and a passion for marketing. I believe my skills and experience make me an ideal candidate, and I am confident that I would be a valuable asset to your team.
Diagnosis: 3 specific issues
1. An opening that could start any application
Quoted: I am writing to express my strong interest in the Marketing Coordinator position at your company.
Why it matters: The reader already knows why you are writing. 'Your company' shows the letter was not written for them. The first sentence is the one most likely to be read, and this one spends it on nothing.
Revision task: Replace it with one sentence that names the company and one specific thing about it — a campaign, a product, a problem — that connects to something you have done.
2. Self-descriptions with no evidence
Quoted: highly motivated, detail-oriented team player with excellent communication skills
Why it matters: Every applicant claims these four traits, so the hiring manager discounts all of them. Adjectives about yourself are claims; the reader is looking for proof.
Revision task: Delete the adjectives. Pick the one trait that matters most for this role and write one sentence about a time you showed it, with a result (a number, a deadline, a launch).
3. Confidence stated instead of earned
Quoted: I believe my skills and experience make me an ideal candidate … a valuable asset to your team.
Why it matters: 'Ideal candidate' and 'valuable asset' ask the reader to take your word for it. Without a concrete match between your experience and their needs, the sentence reads as filler.
Revision task: Name one requirement from the job posting and the one experience of yours that meets it. Let that sentence replace this one.
The checker will not produce a polished letter to copy. It shows where your letter sounds like everyone else's; you replace those lines with your own evidence, which is the part a generator cannot invent.
What the cover letter checker looks for
- Generic openings and closings that could sit on any application.
- Soft-skill adjectives — motivated, passionate, team player — with no example behind them.
- Claims with no evidence: no number, no project, no outcome.
- Nothing tied to this company or this role, so the letter could be sent anywhere.
- Stock phrases hiring managers skim past: 'valuable asset', 'ideal candidate', 'thank you for your consideration'.
